Ministry

I Write:   I am committed to expressing God’s truths in a gracious, straight-forward manner and to share my life with others including a broken past, a winding spiritual journey, an eclectic theological background and a desire to get what God wants us to know. In addition to this blog, I’ve had the opportunity to write for Desiring God, Reformation21 and the Christian Research Journal.  I also have chapter contributions in Beyond the Roles: A Biblical Foundation for Women and Ministry (PCA Committee on Discipleship Ministries, 2019) and Hear Us Emmanuel: Another Call for Racial Reconciliation, Representation, and Unity in the Church (Storied Publishing, 2020). At some point I’m going to tackle writing a whole book!

I Teach:  My ministry philosophy is simple. Serve humbly, care genuinely, live authentically and teach honestly. I believe in teaching the whole counsel of scripture by connecting the dots of whatever passage or book I teach and connecting it with people’s lives.  I believe the Bible should be taught for what it is – the word of God in which God reveals Himself to humanity and His promises for it.  This is why I don’t teach Christian living principles as some kind of checklist for better Christian living. I strive to encourage others about how they think about God. Sometimes this means challenging popular concepts and always means opening up my life.

I Speak: I have been the plenary speaker at women’s conferences within my denomination and contributed to conference panel discussions. Recently, I’ve been more engaged in conversations around racial reconciliation and strive to adhere to biblical fidelity while navigating through the tensions in the church and broader society. Please send inquiries for speaking engagements to spencerlisa755@gmail.com.

I Podcast: I co-host the Family Discussion podcast with Marcos Ortega. Family Discussion is a platform of Reformed Margins. Our goal is to have charitable conversations around current issues that tend to divide Christians.

Thanks Leslie. I had to set this site up as part of my internship. After it’s over, I’ll be modifying it.
